Eastgate’s planning area has received over $9.3 million dollars in transportation funding through the stimulus initiative known as the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 (ARRA).  Transportation projects to be funded with stimulus dollars were selected by Eastgate’s Technical Advisory Committee and approved by the General Policy Board on April 27, 2009.

Eastgate's transportation stimulus projects include road and bridge work across Mahoning and Trumbull Counties. Projects were selected based on a number of considerations including readiness to proceed, ability to meet the short ARRA timeline, inclusion in the Federal-aid Highway System, environmental clearance, and Title 23 requirements.

Eastgate staff has been working closely with project sponsors, the Ohio Department of Transportation and the Federal Highway Administration to ensure that the ARRA projects move to construction as quickly as possible while adhering to the stringent accountability and transparency requirements set forth by the Federal government.
