Eastgate Welcomes Two New Staff Members

Genna Petrolla has joined the team at Eastgate Regional Council of Governments as an Economic Development Planner. Genna returned to the Mahoning Valley in 2016 and was previously employed with the Youngstown/Warren Regional Chamber's Economic Development Division. Genna is a graduate of the Ohio State University and worked for thirteen years in Community and Economic Development in a variety of organizations in Cleveland. She was also part of the inaugural cohort of Strong Cities, Strong Communities (SC2) Fellows, which placed seventeen mid-career professionals in economically challenged cities across the country to add capacity to local governments and bridge connections to federal resources. In her new role, Genna will oversee updates and implementation if the Comprehensive Economic Development Strategy (CEDS) for the Eastgate planning region and will also work to expand the Mahoning Valley is for Entrepreneurs (MVE) initiative that aims to better connect small businesses to technical and financial assistance. She resides in downtown Warren.

Grant Taylor joined us as a Planner in October. He graduated from Youngtown State University with a degree in geography where he focused on learning about GIS. He grew up in Boardman, Ohio where he still lives with his fiancé. Before joining the staff at Eastgate, he worked for the Youngstown Neighborhood Development Corporation as an Americorp Vista member and worked for the Northeast Ohio Sustainable Communities Consortium as a GIS and data management technician. Grant is looking forward to working at Eastgate to make a difference in the community he calls home, and to insure a future here for his kids. He loves studying data and figuring out ways to visualize the data that tell a story, and cannot wait to be working on telling Northeast Ohio’s story.
