On Tuesday September 13, Eastgate, the City of Struthers and the Village of Lowellville came together to celebrate the removal of the dams from their sections of the Mahoning River, and to look to the future. Mayors from along the river attended to show support and to express excitement for the future, as the dams continue to be removed.

The day started with a reception in Struthers, where kayakers and canoers launched, paddling down to Lowellville. At the Struthers reception, a representative from the Governor's Office of Appalachia read a proclamation commending Eastgate and its partners on the work done so far, and expressing support for the continued revitalization of the river.

Eastgate is proud of what has been accomplished along the river, and we look forward to every river community becoming reconnected with their piece of the Mahoning River.
