The District Six NRAC met on Friday, January 20th to select and vote on applications. With over $3 million dollars available for projects, the District approved three projects totaling request of
$1,574,562. The selected applications were submitted to OPWC for final funding approval.
Kinsman Swamp Restoration:
- Applicant: Trumbull County MetroParks
- Land Acquisition: 196.38 acres in Kinsman Township
- Restoration Components: Revert farmed/agricultural land back to native meadows and re-establish vernal pools.
- Total Project Cost: $1,150,965
- Clean Ohio Funding Request: $789,715
Range Four Preserve:
- Applicant: Trumbull County MetroParks
- Land Acquisition: 79.86 acres in Lordstown
- Land Features- Pin Oak forest, wetland transition zones, wet meadows, marsh lands.
- Total Project Cost: $942,200
- Clean Ohio Funding Request: $642,200
Hawkins March Improvements:
- Applicant: Mill Creek MetroParks
- Improvements to previously acquired land through Round 15a of Clean Ohio (161.76 acres in Smith Township)
- Improvements include parking, hiking trails, trail signage, educational signage.
- Total Project Cost: $190,196
- Clean Ohio Funds Requested: $142,647
