The Appalachian Regional Commission (ARC) awarded nearly $54 million to 64 projects in 217 counties through its POWER (Partnerships for Opportunity and Workforce and Economic Revitalization) Initiative, which supports economic diversification in Appalachia's coal-impacted communities. The funds will help create new jobs in several industries, expand workforce training, and attract investment to communities affected by the downturn of the coal industry. This is the largest single POWER awards package to date since the initiative launched in 2015
The Eastgate District receives $2,497,161 in ARC 2023 POWER funds: Congratulations to Ashtabula County Board of Commissioners
- $2,497,161 POWER grant awarded to the Ashtabula County Board of Commissioners for the “Connecting Underserved Ashtabula County, Ohio” project. The project will enable Ashtabula County to contract with a preferred vendor to expand broadband access in underserved or unserved areas of the county. Through this project, broadband service will be made available to 2,986 unserved or underserved households and 90 unserved or underserved businesses located across 14 communities.
