Eastgate Receives 2024 Ohio Alliance for the Environment Award

On Saturday, April 13, 2024 Eastgate’s Stephanie Dyer and Justin Mondok traveled to Salt Fork State Park to receive the Environmental Education Council (OEEC) of Ohio’s 2024 Ohio Alliance for the Environment Award. This award is given to a business or industry dedicated to fostering a climate of cooperation for resolving environmental problems. Stephanie Dyer nominated Eastgate for the for the award to recognize the decades of work dedicated to restoring the Mahoning River. 

As her application stated, “Eastgate recognizes the Mahoning River as an asset, not a liability” and therefore, “is playing an integral role in ensuring the river is reconnected by assisting the local river communities apply for funding to remove their dams.” At the core of the Environmental Department’s mission is protecting our region’s healthy waters and improving water quality so our communities can reinvest in themselves and one another, reinvigorate the region’s economy, and reestablish pride in Mahoning River’s name.
