Eastgate Participates in the Ashtabula County Sustainability Summit

Eastgate staff spent the day at the Ashtabula County Sustainability Summit on October 24, 2025, hosted at Kent State University of Ashtabula. This event brought together officials from local, county, and state governments, along with residents, nonprofits, and businesses, to discuss strategies for building a thriving, healthy, and resilient Ashtabula County.

Kathy Zook, Eastgate’s Appalachian Regional Commission (ARC) Program Manager, participated in the panel discussion “Developing for Tomorrow: Balancing Economic Development and Sustainability.” She highlighted how the programs facilitated through the ARC and the Ohio Governor’s Office of Appalachia strengthen economic opportunity and support community vitality across the region.

Grant Taylor, Eastgate’s Safety Program Manager, joined the panel “Moving with Purpose: Active Transit and EVs,” where he discussed strategies to enhance transportation safety for vulnerable road users and promote more efficient modes of travel.

Eastgate is proud to support events that emphasize forward-thinking planning and locally led initiatives. The agency remains committed to regional collaboration and sustainability efforts that help strengthen communities across Northeast Ohio.
