Eastgate Joins Regional Chamber for Columbus Drive-In

Eastgate’s Executive Director, James Kinnick, along with the Director of Planning, Joann Esenwein joined the Reginal Chamber and local leaders for the Columbus Drive-In on April 10, 2019.

The group went to the State Capital to advocate for funding for the Mahoning River Dam Removals and Restoration, NEXTGEN Manufacturing and Materials (additive and 3-D printing), Youngstown Air Reserve Station and Camp Garfield, and Drive It Home Ohio – General Motors Lordstown Complex. 

Senate President Larry Obhoff welcomed the Mahoning Valley delegation to the State Capital when they arrived in Columbus.  Their luncheon speaker was the Governor’s Advisor on Aerospace and Defense, Colonel Joseph Zeis. 

Then the delegation split up to meet with Policy Makers.  Jim’s group met with the OEPA Director Laurie Stevenson and members of her staff, and ODNR Asst. Director Mindy Blankley along with her staff.  Joann’s group met with State Senator Frank Hoagland and his Legislative Aide.  Both groups stressed the importance of cleaning the Mahoning River to the Mahoning Valley and requested support for funding.

Next, the Drive it Home campaign was recognized by Senator Rulli and Senator O’Brien in the Ohio House of Resprsentatives.  That was followed  with a session with Governor Mike Dewine, the Ohio Department of Transportation Director Jack Marchbanks and the Director of Development Services Agency Lydia Mihalik.  It was a very successful day.
