ARC Awards $9.4 Million to 30 Projects Addressing Substance Abuse Crisis, Seeks Applicants for Second Round of Funding

The Appalachian Regional Commission (ARC) awarded more than $9.4 million to 30 projects through INvestments Supporting Partnerships In Recovery Ecosystems (INSPIRE), an initiative addressing Appalachia’s substance abuse crisis by creating or expanding a recovery ecosystem leading to workforce entry or re-entry. There were four successful INSPIRE projects in Ohio, two of which were from the Eastgate District. Congratulations to Flying HIGH, Inc ($500,000 award) and Coleman Professional Services ($45,309 award)!!

Second Round of INSPIRE Funding Now Available!!

ARC is also accepting applications for a second round of INSPIRE grants, which will award up to $10 million to more recovery-focused projects. Awards made through the INSPIRE Initiative will support will the post-treatment to employment by training and certifying recovery specialists, establishing cross-sector community recovery workgroups, expanding peer recovery facilities, launching recovery-to-work programs with a full spectrum of coordinated support services, and more.

  • Letter of Intent (LOI) deadline – Monday, May 17 by 5:00 PM ET (via email to sud@arc.gov)
  • Final Application deadline – Friday, June 18 by 5:00 PM ET (via INSPIRE Application Portal)
  • Copy of  Request for Proposals (RFP)
