ODOT Grants $400,000 in Funds for Smart Logistics Hub Study

Jul 01, 2021

ODOT has granted Eastgate Regional Council of Governments $400,000 in funding through the State Planning & Research program. This funding, combined with the $100,000 already committed by Eastgate, will be applied to a planned feasibility study for the advancement of the Lordstown Smart Logistics Hub project.

Eastgate is partnered in this project with DriveOhio, ODOT District 4, and the Ohio Turnpike & Infrastructure Commission.

Eastgate has put out a request for proposal to find a consultant who will conduct the study. The study will assess the feasibility of in-road electric charging, automated electric truck trailer transfers, solar charging within existing, underutilized right-of-way, and other emerging clean energy technologies such as hydrogen fuel cells. The findings of the study will determine the steps needed to move the project forward.

Eastgate applied for the funding in January and expects to begin working with a consultant in August 2021. Information about the request for proposal can be found here.
