Township Stimulus Program Offers Funding for Sidewalk, Roadway, or Culvert Projects

Aug 03, 2021

Applications opened Sunday August 1st for the Township Stimulus Program, an Ohio Department of Transportation-administered program providing federal funds to townships for sidewalk, roadway, and culvert projects within township limits.

This is a one-time program, with $8 million total available statewide and a $250,000 limit per project. ODOT will provide 100% of eligible costs for all phases of the project, up to the specified project funding limit.

Per ODOT’s rules, to be eligible for the Township Stimulus Program, the project must:

  • be within township limits;
  • be maintained by the township;
  • require no or minimal environmental or right-of-way work; and
  • be a culvert (less than 10 feet in span), sidewalk, or roadway (including pavement marking and guardrail) project

More information on eligible projects, restrictions, and scoring can be found at ODOT Guidance Page, where the application itself can be found as well. ODOT has also provided an FAQ for those interested, which can be accessed here.
